Vacation
4 weeks paid
Book Fund
- PGY I, II and III: $1200/year for all PGY levels, paid out as salary
Meals
Annual BruinCard meal funds of $3000/year to be used at clinical facilities. Additionally, residents are allowed use of the GME UberEats account for rotations (CHLA, Millers, LB, Kaiser, VA, etc.) where there is no meal plan (max $25/day, up to $200/mo).
Housing
$1000/month housing stipend is provided-included as a salary
DEA
The residents are eligible for reimbursement for their DEA license during their training, which is limited in use to UCLA-facilities. Residents will need to purchase an unrestricted license once they graduate.
Conferences
The residents have a chance to attend multiple conferences at no cost or receive stipends from the department to offset the cost.
Relocation Allowance
The UCLA GME office pays for up to $2750.00 in relocation assistance.
Free Parking
Parking at most medical centers is fully paid by the residency office (savings of $74.00 per month). At Ronald Reagan, residents will have to pay for parking.
Two Residency Retreats
All residents are excused to attend two retreats each year:
- Fall Retreat – 3 day-2-night retreat, usually in Lake Arrowhead
- Spring Retreat – One day retreat, usually takes place over a weekend in March- April at the Program Director’s house
Library
Free access to UCLA Medical Library resources including PubMed, UpToDate, MDConsult, Harrison’s Online, etc.
Health and Retirement
- Health insurance: All medical visits, labs, imaging and prescriptions received within the UCLA Health System are free of charge for residents, their spouse, and their children.
- Dental insurance: Delta Dental coverage for resident, spouse and children.
- Vision insurance: Vision Service Plan with $10 co-pay for annual exam, $25 co-pay for lenses and $130 allowance for frames and/or contact lenses.

- University retirement plan (UCLA’s Defined Contribution Plan)
University Resources
Residents have access to all of the resources available to UCLA faculty members including the Recreation Center Facilities, the Marine Aquatic Center, UCLA athletics events and many more.
Behavioral Wellness Center
Residents have free access to psychiatrists, psychologists and a full-time therapist at the new Behavioral Wellness Center, located on the Westwood Campus in the Center for Health Sciences. Residents may also seek care through existing individual and group therapy services at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services, Staff and Faculty Counseling Center (SFCC), or through community providers who accept house staff insurance.
Additional Benefits
A work iPhone will be provided in addition to a traditional pager to be used for clinical duties.
Uber is provided as part of the efforts to reduce fatigue in residents.
